Chapter 7 on the Road to 160

Chapter 7 on the road to 160 was uneventful.

I was in a health bet but didn’t really participate. Busy has been an understatement.

I maintained my weight loss but didn’t make any forward progress. I’m celebrating the fact that I maintained my weight loss!!!

I have had recurrent knee issues and I finally saw an orthopedic Dr. Whenever I would start a new exercise program, my knees would act up and derail me. This time I was tired of it. I got some braces and the all clear that it was okay to push through.

Today, I pushed play!

Chapter 6 on the Road to 160.

I survived the 6th chapter on the road to 160 by maintaining my weight loss during an insanely emotional month.

A victory for me when emotional eating has been my downfall many times before.

I’m looking forward to doing a June health bet to keep me accountable to my goals and journey and making more progress.

Thankful for the sacrifice of those Americans that gave me the freedom to spend the day at the ballpark with the family and watch the Astros win.

Chapter 5 on the Road to 160.

The 5th chapter on my road to 160 includes the middle of baseball season for the boys and the crazy schedule that entails (Meals on the run!), Easter (I ate 1 jelly bean, 1 peep and 1 small slice of carrot cake!). I’m entering a rough season of the year for me (Easter, Mother’s Day and the anniversary of Mom’s death) and I haven’t been emotional eating. I’ve been depressed but it hasn’t been too bad, just taking it a day at a time and trying to take it easy this season.

My meds have caused a lack of appetite and water retention so I’ve been dealing with that.

I’ve got 15 bunny stickers on my water bottle and I’m down 32lb overall.

My non-scale victory for the month is that I’m wearing these shorts (juniors section!) and didn’t need spanx!

Chapter 4 on the Road to 160.

The 4th chapter on my road to 160 included the start of baseball season for the boys and the crazy schedule that entails (Meals on the run!), birthday celebrations (I had checkerboard cake in my house and I only ate one piece!!!) and spring break! I’ve been slacking on Transform:20 (When my knees stop being wonky I’ll step up my game!) and my BP2 meds have been upped and they are working (Yay for being calmer and less depressed!)!

I’ve got 13 bunny stickers on my water bottle and I’m down 27lbs!

I bypassed my first goal and now I’m in the process of figuring out my next mini goal and I’m 37lbs away from my main goal!

I’m still making good choices with my meals and I lost 3.5lbs this past month. My face has changed a bit from when I started my journey!

Chapter 3 on the Road to 160.

This 3rd chapter on my road to 160 included a 24hr illness and my trip to New Zealand. I missed almost 2 weeks of Transform:20 workouts and I started on meds again for my bipolar 2.

I’ve got 12 bunny stickers on my water bottle. I’m down 23.5lbs.

This has been an interesting month, I’ve made it to my 1st goal weight and surpassed it a couple of times. The scale has been a bit of a yo-yo but I know why and while it’s driving me a tiny bit crazy, I’m okay with it.

I’m back on track with Transform:20, still making good choices with my meals and I lost 4.5lbs this past month.

*Edited to add some progress photos. I started at 224lbs and didn’t take photos but had these from a similar weight. I can definitely see and feel the changes ❤️

Chapter 2 on the Road to 160.

This next chapter on my road to 160 included a week in Disney World, Brian being out of town for 5 days and starting Shaun T’s Transform:20.

I’ve got 9 bunny stickers on my water bottle. I’m down 19lbs and my victory for this month was continued commitment and being able to comfortably wear a specific large T-shirt.

The story behind that is I only get XL’s or larger and when Alex made the All-Star Team they only had one large shirt left. I tried it on and felt like a sausage casing, I couldn’t breathe wearing it. But I got it with the intention of being able to wear it one day and that time is now!

Chapter 1 on the Road to 160.

The night of Nov. 25th, I had a dream that I told my friend Shannon Leigh Conner that I was committed and ready to lose the weight I’ve accumulated over the years. I told her about the dream on the 26th. I ordered the Beachbody 2B Mindset and I started watching the videos, implementing what I was learning and tracking it all on the app on the 27th. I received an awesome package in the mail from Shannon that included bunny stickers to put on my water bottle, each sticker represents 2lbs lost!

So far, I’ve lost 13.5 lbs.

It felt incredible to be losing weight during the crazy busy yummy food focused holidays, I didn’t feel deprived of anything, I still had the things I love just made better choices and had bites instead of binges!

P is for persistence.

Last Monday evening at 9:30pm, Alex came downstairs after being tucked in bed and presumably asleep to tell us he had forgotten something important.

He had been nominated again by his classmates for student council. There was a paper to sign for permission and some questions he had to fill out answers to. Of course he was also supposed to bring in a poster and write and present a speech. Needless to say I was irritated by the fact it was 9:30pm after a 3 day weekend when all of that could have been prepared in a timely fashion!

I asked if he wanted to participate again? He said yes. I had him fill out the paper. I signed it. He brought it to school and then he forgot to turn it in!

I asked again if he really wanted to participate because his forgetfulness was proving otherwise. He assured me again that he did.

I made him grab his poster from last year, we put a different picture of him on it and I said there you go. Last week was a busy week in the Quinn household, but when isn’t it a busy week with 4 kids?!

He walked out the door to go to the bus without the poster and I almost lost my mind and I had Katie go get him so he could retrieve it.

He turned everything in. He wrote a small speech about how he enjoyed student council last year and would dance in front of the class if he won this year.

He got the most votes and won. According to him, they play a random song on Friday afternoons and the class said, now you have to dance and he did. He said it was the craziest dance he’s ever done and he couldn’t repeat it if he tried and that his class was laughing and cheering.

He was both very proud of winning again and very embarrassed about the dancing but when he tells the story, he is grinning from ear to ear.

I love Alex. I’m proud of him. Not everything is going to be perfect and Pinterest worthy and it’s okay to reuse things you already have.. I love that even with his forgetfulness, he persisted. I admire the persistence. I just have to remember that I admire it when he is using it in ways that drive me crazy 😂
